While I have a comprehensive post called 'Prescription Magic', I wanted to offer something much more simple, for a person (is it you?) that wants to start practicing sigil magic as fast as possible.
The fastest form of magic might be creating an Awareness or Being/Mantra Sigil, as I mentioned here, but drawn (and usually) paper sigils are the kind that many may be aware of. And they're extremely easy to start doing.
And the results can be immediate.
Let's get into all that you need to know.
Identifying Your Sigil Intention
1) Ask Yourself What Area of Your Life You'd Like To Improve
Is it your career? Your relationship? Your health?
Pick one of the overarching areas of your life, and then:
2) Ask What Would Need To Be True To Have The Worst (x Area of Life)
So, ask what would need to be true to have the worst career? You might say:
- A) Low pay
- B) Terrible bosses
- C) Terrible coworkers
- D) No work-life balance
- E) Long commute
- F) Work on weekends
- G) No opportunity for growth
3) Flip The Worst Possible Outcomes Into Their Ideal
For sigil intentions, you want to be clear, direct, comprehensive, and extreme. Sometimes, you want to write your intentions like you're drawing up a legal document. You want no opportunities for misunderstanding.
To continue with our examples, we might do something like:
- A) I completely and permanently have a job that pays me a wage I love
- B) I always have bosses that treat me great
- C) I always have coworkers that treat me great
- D) I always have a work-life balance that I love
- E) I completely and permanently have a short work commute
- F) I am always free from working on the weekends
- G) I always have a career that gives me opportunities for growth
4) Figure Out If It's A Good Idea To Use Your Sigil Intentions
If you have a form of divination that you're well-versed in, you can use that to determine if you should or shouldn't activate a sigil.
The reason I do divination for every potential sigil intention is because small changes can have large effects.
If you aren't well-versed in any form of divination, though, simply use a coin.
Decide whether heads or tails is the yes or no, and use those two sides for each intention.
Ask if you should activate that sigil, flip the coin, and proceed, or not, based on the flip you get.
If it says no, I say it's probably better to be safe than sorry.
5) Remove The Vowels of Your Sigil Intentions
This is pretty straightforward, so I'll just use one example:
- A) I completely and permanently have a job that pays me a wage I love
- CMPLTNDRHVJBWG
Once you've done this process for all of your sigil intentions, you'll have the letters that you'll use to create your sigil(s).
How To Actually Make Your Sigil
Let's use an example I put in 'Prescription Magic’, which was the intention: I always follow the perfect bedtime for myself.
That leaves us with the following letters to work with: LWSFPRFCTBDM
With your letters, you don't need my instruction, really. You'll just create a symbol with those letters, in whatever way you prefer.
And you'll just connect all of your sigil intentions into one large, interconnected sigil, which might look like this:
It's that simple. Now, let's get into 'charging' or 'activating' your sigils.
How To Charge/Activate Your Sigils
There's many ways to activate your sigils, but the two simplest, but effective methods are the following:
1) Holding Your Breath
With your paper sigil face down, hold your breath for as long as you possibly can.
When you can't hold your breath anymore, grab your sigil and stare at it as you finally get some air.
That should be enough to create a blank mind slate for you to slip that sigil's intention under your consciousness.
2) Spin
You can even do this while holding your breath, if you prefer, but be careful spinning around in your home.
You hold your paper sigil, face-down, and you spin in circles.
When you feel that you've done it an adequate amount of times to be a little dizzy, stop, and stare at your sigil, with your likely adequate level of a thought-less mind.
This may be a safer method if you do it in front of your bed and fall back on to it when you stop. Just a thought.
Getting Results From Sigil Magic
I, and no one, can guarantee that you'll see immediate, noticeable results from your sigils.
If you have an intention of making a million dollars and you only have $2000 in the bank, there's not a lot for the magic to work with there.
Some intentions have a higher or lower likelihood of coming to fruition.
From my experience, sigil intentions that involve states of mind, and behaviors, have less standing in the way of you getting a successful result.
When things involve the mind and behavior of others, there's still a good chance of seeing some successes.
But when you start to work magic for events, possessions, and other material things, there might be more resistance, more competition, and more that has to happen before the mountains start to move.
That's why I'll leave you with some additional advice:
1) Ideally, Work Magic Before You Need It
Sometimes an intention needs time to materialize.
Activating sigil intentions to make you wiser about your finances is going to be better, and more likely to come to fruition, than getting an immediate, urgent surge of funds.
Working magic to make you a better job candidate, with greater skills, is going to be better and more effective than working magic to get a new job, overnight.
Not to say that the latter options aren't possible, just less likely.
2) Do More Magic Than You Think You Need To
Throw everything you can against the wall to solve your problems.
This is good for two reasons:
- One, is you have a higher chance of success with the more shots you take
- Two, if you do a lot of magic, you'll forget a lot of what you did, and won't be fixated on specific results, allowing time to work its magic for you in bringing results together
Results *will* happen. But you're going to be better off in many ways if you're living instead of waiting by the window to see if magic is going to walk up and open your door.
Final Thoughts
Sigils were the source of my first successful magical results, and they're something I turn to regularly to steer the ship of my life in my desired direction.
They're an insurance policy, in a way.
And sometimes, the process of making a sigil, and the act of activating it, is a way to off-load any anxieties I may have about the sigil topic, to whoever, and whatever, is helping them be fulfilled. It's submitting a service request to the powers of the world, and then seeing if they send some help to fix your dishwasher.
When they work, it's great, and the downside of doing them is maybe thirty minutes of your day that you can write-off as making art. There's no losing with them if you have the right mindset.
Let yourself be surprised with the results.
