An astrological profection year can either be a belligerent enemy yelling "that's a promise!" to you, a cordial "Bet," or a whispered, intimate guarantee.
Of course, the only real certainty is uncertainty, but if you've lived for 24 years, you'll likely be able to read this piece and see the truth in how your own life unfolded.
To put it simply: a profection is when one astrological house dominates your life for a year.
It moves from 1 - 12 over the course of 12 years, and essentially acts as a laser beam school photo backdrop as you learn some (potentially) uncomfortable, or (potentially) enjoyable lessons.
If you observe the life of a public figure that’s passed, you’ll still see the profections come to be (Some 2Pac examples in this piece will show you a bit of that).
As it's often said: there's a time and season for everything.

Everything You Need To Know About Relationship And Event Profections
Granted, I don't pay attention to much astrological scholarship or internet discussion these days, but I never really saw anyone talk about relationship, or event profections.
My theory (which could be wrong) is that the profections we share with others (and “things”) can give us a better idea of what the nature of those relationships are.
In addition to that, I believe that you can look at how much time has passed from a particular event, theme, place, or thing, and get a better idea of what house energy is currently showing itself.
How do you figure it out?
You look at what year you were born, and what year someone else was born - or the date of an event and today's date (being careful about recognizing which month of birth/arising comes first), and look up which profection that number of years would be associated with.
This calculator might help you. As will the profection list at the bottom of this post.

My Relationship
- My partner and I's relationship is a third house thing, as we have two years separating us.
- One third house element (though, there are others) was that our relationship started on social media. And writing (another third house topic) played a big role in the development of our relationship.
- In the 7th year of our relationship (8th house profection) I quit my job (permanent change) and also appreciated her financial assistance when it was needed (another 8th house topic).
My Home
- In my 12th house year at age 23, I moved out of the childhood home I was born into, for good.
- By 2023, I was in an 8th house year with the only home I've known in Denver, and I ended up moving to another location.
My Career
- In 2021, I was in a 6th house year with my place of employment, and I left in part due to the work environment (6th house topic).
Public Figures
- Pusha T, Kanye, and Drake are all in 10th house year relationships with each other, and each has definitely impacted the others' reputations.
- Pusha T and his brother Malice have a 6th house year relationship, and of course, they work together as the Clipse.
- Pusha T and Pharrell have a 5th house relationship, and it was the Neptunes production that made the perfect pairing with his lyrics

Additional Perspective on Profections
1) The Fader Aspect of Profections
Instead of a hard line, see profection years as fade-ins and fade-outs.
Sometimes the profection to come will show its face before your new Solar Return/birthday (kind of like how Jay-Z had a violent conflict just days before his 7th house year).
2) The Rest of Your World Won't Stop
Don't expect nothing to happen in your other houses during any particular profection year.
Planetary and Moon transits will still be taking place, so there will likely be developments in other areas of your life.
I've just found profection years to be the clouds that are constant over your head.
3) The Best Place For Research Is Your Own Life
While public figures are sometimes easy to find information about, there usually isn't constant news about them.
Careers ebb and flow, as does prominence.
And for some profections, such as the 3rd house, private things like your thoughts, relatives, and personal spiritual practices are included, which make it one of the most difficult houses to find clear examples of from outside of yourself (at least with the musicians I researched).
This is all to say that examining your personal life is going to be the most enriching exercise you can do if you're trying to understand profections better. So, have at it.
So What?: What Are The Benefits Of Having All of This Information
For some, they’ll get nothing from profections, and that’s fine.
For me, it’s like getting an agenda for my year instead of wandering aimlessly without direction.
Knowing about profections can give me a needed heads up, and tell me what ducks are springing up, and what rows I may want to put them in.
It offers a chance for advance planning that works for my particular brain.
But there’s also the risk of believing that you can see it all coming.
Sometimes a train will somehow end up on the highway, t-boning you on your leisurely drive through life. It happens.
My advice is to take what you can from this information, but to always remember that you’re not going to be able to predict everything.
There’s even professional diviners out there that will see their hopes and dreams in cloud mirages that will soon disappoint (I’ve been one of them).
We’re only human, and our predictive capacities have their limits, even with these tools.
The safest thing you could do is wear the right size of britches, and be prepared for anything with attention instead of anxiety.
Hubris only gets any of us so far, and the view isn’t too nice on the way there
